Improving my Alexa ranking is something that has been a priority for me lately? Why? Because Alexa rank is the way many internet ad companies determine the value of links and ads on your site. I like selling links and ads on my site.

Back to Alexa and how they rank your website and how you can improve your Alexa ranking.

On Alexa's website it says they are a "Web Information Company" (their part of Amazon for those of you that didn't know) the Alexa rating systems starts at 1 and goes all the way to 4,000,000 and sometimes beyond, if you have a rating of 1 it means you are google if you have a rating of 4,000,000 it means you have a very new website or no friends.

My current Alexa rank is 295,485 which is quite good I think last week it was at 292,000 so its declined despite more traffic this week than ever before:(

Whys my Alexa rank declined?

I don't know I am not an expert just someone who wants to make a bit of cash online, the problem with Alexa traffic ranking is it relies on things like visitors to your site having the Alexa toolbar or the firefox plugin which monitors the sites they visit.

How will I improve my Alexa rank?

People try and improve Alexa rank in a number of ways last week I was experimenting by redirecting traffic from sources such as mybloglog and stumbleupon this didn't really work and Lord Matt warned of SEO Madness which can be seen in this post about Alexa Redirects so what am I doing know?

Now I have installed the Alexa Widget (bottom right) this counts traffic through this site and will hopefully take me below the 100,000 rank which will make me very happy.
