Can blogging really make me cash, clear my debts and help me achieve financial independence? Will I really make money online just be writing a few thoughts?

A big thanks to Lord Matt. Today is the start of Lord Matts blog promotion/blog carnival Idea called Spike Club.

Lord Matt has given a great review of financial independence and now its my turn to write an article for everyone to comment on.

One of Lords Matts observations about financial independence was this and he's absolutely right.

"It seems Stubsy has started the community as a personal project for getting out of debt (something I too have experienced the hard way, once before)."

I am in debt up to my ears as I think is most of the developed world, debt is like a ball and chain a noose around my neck.

I used to be quite financially secure, I had quite a good job I had made a lot of money from my the sale of my first house.

Then about a year ago I made a terrible career move, further details of this move might be revealed in the near future. My salary halved but my spending didn't. I am now deep in debt and it scares me.

So yeah I've started this site in the hope it will pay off my debt, the other reason I started this site is because I want financial independence (security) and that cannot be achieved by working for other people I always knew this. My experiences in the last year have just drilled it into my head.

I'm still learning about blogging and making money from the internet but heres what I've learned so far.

1. Making money online takes hours of work - anyone who tells you it doesn't either has a massive marketing budget or is lying.

2. Anyone can make money online - you need to be dedicated and focused, I am focused on this site for the reasons discussed previously. Be prepared to learn through trial and error.

3. Set Goals - Make realistic goals and focus on acheiving them.

4. Don't worry too much about spelling - most of my Google traffic comes from spelling errers :)

Well thats all I have learned about making money from a blog or website, not much really. And thats good because its Spike Club. So your going to comment.
